Honeymoon, Day 2
Today was a great day. Woke up, cleaned up, and hit the door. We had Denny’s for breakfast. It was the first time I’d eaten there since I was a mere child. Lumberjack Slams are still the bomb. Kim thoroughly enjoyed her Strawberry Belgian Waffle. We then hit up Starbucks for some tasty vanilla lattes and cruised a few gift shops, followed by a short stint in the casino for kicks. Kim came up $10 on the penny slots… I was so proud!
Swung through Murphy’s Cafe on 3rd for a quick bite. It was rather delicious… Then we had to jet back to the hotel to prep for our guided tour of Niagara, USA. Started off with the Maid of the Mist. Kim and I accidentally picked the best spot on the rail and got some great pics (and a little wet). Then we went back up through the observation tower and got a great view of the entire falls. Next stop was the naturally-occurring whirlpool a little ways down river (neat stuff). We then saw Goat Island and the Three Sisters Islands, which were amazing (we’re going back there tomorrow on our own). Finally, we got drenched over at the Cave of the Winds, which is a ground view of the Bridal Falls. On a side note, the elevator that takes you back up to the park broke down just as we were about to board. Kim freaked the hell out (she hates elevators that are in good working order, let alone ones that malfunction right before her eyes). After 20 mins of maintainence, they were up and running again… All in all, it was a mighty awesome experience…
Once we got back to the hotel, we changed and headed back to the casino for an amazing buffet dinner and some more gambling. Kim took to the slots first. The pennies proved to be up and down (I think we dropped $5 dollars or so, no biggie), which was no surprise. I decided to take the reigns on a gigantic spinning Wheel of Fortune penny machine. After losing about $10, we finally hit a bonus spin and won $50. We then decided to punch out on the slots. Initial investment = $20. Final ticket total = $63.13. Net gain = do the math, stupid.
I couldn’t very well leave without playing a table, so I sat at a $10 blackjack table and dropped a Benji. Fifteen minutes later, I cashed out at $150. At $200 dollars an hour, gambling seems more and more appealing as a full-time career choice…
So that brings us to the present. Me, sitting here blogging and uploading pictures to Facebook. What a grandiose life I lead. More fun tomorrow, kids. Write to you then…
The Honeymoon is on…
So we’re here, about to turn in on night 1… This town is almost a ghost town. It’s really odd not seeing very many people here, but it’s even odder seeing the condition of the streets and buildings in the immediate area around the falls… It’s really kinda dumpy, but we’re not about to let that kill the vacation. Hell, this is for us, not anyone else. So we ate a late lunch/early dinner, walked around a bit, saw the American Falls, got some tour info, checked out the casino (blew $5 on penny slots), and caught a late snack (Kim craved potato skins) all before getting to where we are now, aka the bedroom. Anyways, I have business to attend to (bow chicka bow wow), so be sure to check out the accompanying photos on my Facebook. G’nite! ;)
A feeling of vexation
A small gap in my love

on the wrong side of a line
I won’t soon forget.
You only mean so much
to one and many and some
so the thoughtless ones
will know where it comes from

The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy
Editor: Luke Cuddy

Pub. Date: November 2008
“If you think far too much about the Legend of Zelda series, then here is a book for you. The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is a series of essays that explores topics both confined to the game, as in Rachel Robison’s “Shape Shifting and Time Traveling: Link’s Identity Issues”, to more all-encompassing philosophical fare, which we see in Paul Brown’s “Hyrule’s Green and Pleasant Land: The Minish Cap as Utopian Ideal”. It’s equal bits absurd and insightful.”
