I’m a dad. Again.

The pregnancy test Kim took last Wednesday was suspicious. The doctor’s appointment Thursday was informative. The ultrasound today was undeniable. Kim is 5.5 weeks pregnant. I’ve done it again, folks…
To be honest, I’m a little worried. I wanted more children, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon… Same goes for Kim, we were both rather shocked. But we’re definitely okay with this. My real issue is managing Kim’s pain in a way that will keep her comfortable without harming the baby. For those that don’t know, Kim has a problem with chronic pain in her legs. I’d elaborate more, but we don’t know much else. No one has been able to diagnose the pain, although several things have been ruled out (arthritis, MS, patellofemoral disease, etc.). She’d been comfortable managing the pain for a while, but the drugs she was using are not considered safe for pregnant women. Luckily, she has an appointment with a pain management specialist soon… I’m sure we’ll figure something out.
On the “big win” side of things, this has sparked the resolution of a few outstanding issues in our lives. For one, I’m going to quit smoking. It’s not healthy for myself or anyone I’m around, and I’ve been putting it off for far too long. If Kim has to quit, I’m gonna support her and do the same. Also, Kim’s mom, after hearing the news, has decided to take the reigns on this wedding thing and plan our entire wedding for sometime in August-ish-ism. Fine by me, this wedding shit doesn’t even come close to being important in my book. I know some women start planning their big day at an extremely young age, but that’s really not the case for us. We’ve been together for nearly 7 years now. In my opinion, we’ve been married for a long time already. This is just a photo opportunity. But anyhow, God forbid we have a second child out of wedlock, so grab your shotgun and show me to the church…
So, in summary, hurray for unplanned pregnancies. They really inspire us to get shit done. You can quote me on that.
Stay tuned for more updates on these topics! ;)
